Funeral Services for Mrs. C. G. Schlarb

Collins, April 17--Funeral services for the late Mrs. C. G. Schlarb, who passed away Sunday night at her home in Collins after a lingering illness, were held at the Methodist church, Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock. The Rev. Chas. Hohanshelt of Waukee, a former pastor was in charge of the services and burial was at Penn Center near Earlham, Iowa.

A ladies' quartett composed of L. M. Hall, Mrs. G. C. Fish, Mrs. C. R. Stone and Mrs. L. D. Holland with Mrs. Hugh Fertig at the piano sang "It Is True," "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The many lovely floral offerings as well as the large crowd of people attending the services were proof of the love and esteem in which she was held in this community.

The flowers were arranged at the church by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. O. N. Serbein. Pallbearers were near friends of the family and were Fred Kimberley, J. I. Kimberley, Andrew Schauper, Jesse Carver, Harlan Carver and Ralph Campbell.

Mrs. Schlarb was Helen Jeanette Enfield, a daughter of Gilbert and Elizabeth Enfield and was born at Ogden, Iowa, April 22, 1891 and at the time of her death was 44 years, 11 months and 10 days old.

She grew to womanhood in the Ogden community and on December 24, 1914, was united in marriage to Clarence G. Schlarb at Des Moines and to them, one daughter, Leota, was born.

For a number of years they lived in Des Moines and Ames, coming to Collin about nine years ago. They were engaged in business here for several years and through the store, Mrs. Schlarb became acquainted with the people of this community and made many warm and lasting friendships.

About four years ago, they moved to a farm southwest of town but failing health necessitated their returning to town where she lived until death came as a release from intense suffering. She leaves to mourn her passing besides the husband and daughter, Leota, her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Enfield, a sister, Mrs. Joe Saunders of Humbolt, a brother, Ralph Enfield of California, several cousins and a large number of other relatives.

Mrs. Schlarb was a kind and loving neighbor and loyal friend and her early passing is truly mourned in this community. Relatives and friends from a distance attending were Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Enfield, Mrs. John Lind, Mrs. John Rittgers, Mr. and Mrs. Frelly Crossman, Mrs. Harry Reimer, Mrs. Rudie Peters and Mr. nd Mrs. Art Wingfield, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Saunders, Bradgate, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Stokes, Mr. Chas. Blythe of Eagle Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bellason of Valley Junction, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Enfield of Humbolt, Mrs. Gertrude Meiers of Bouton an possibly others.
