Funeral Service For Clarence Schlarb Held Here Tuesday

Funeral services for Clarence Schlarb, Sr., of Ames, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Tuesday, May 14 at 1:30 p. m. with the Rev. David Ash officiating.

Organ music was played at the opening and the close of the service.

The casket bearers were Stanley Beals, Richard Irish, Fred Kimberley, John I. Kimberley, A. A. Magill and Guy Wakefield.

Burial was in the Penn Center cemetery near Earlham.

Clarence G. Schlarb, Sr. was born Oct. 21, 1894 at Earlham, a son of Henry G. and Lena Schlarb. He was married to Dorothy Jackson Sept. 30, 1938 at Ladora. He had been a resident of Ames the past six years.

He was owner and operator of the Hi-Wa Cafe in Nevada for a time, purchasing it of Clifford Padellford and selling it later to Walter R. Hamilton. He also owned and operated Dayton's Park in Ames for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, one son, Clarence Schlarb, Jr., at home, one daughter Mrs. Amos (Leola) Hanson of Des Moines, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
