Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Josie Torgeson

STORY CITY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Torgeson were held in the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City on Friday afternoon, January 2, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ocee Johnson officiated. A prayer service preceded the church service at 1:30 in the Larson-Peterson Funeral home.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson, soloist sang "Heaven Is My Home," preceding the church service, and "The Lord's Prayer," at the close of the service.

Interment was in the Story City cemetery. The following served as casket bearers: Jeffrey Nelson, Byron Hauskin, Orville Hauskin, David Hendrickson, Harold Holm and Andrew Vigness.

Obituary

Mrs. Thine Josephine Torgeson was born on April 28, 1883 in Hardin County, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in East Bergen Lutheran church, near McCallsburg. She was married on Jan. 20, 1907 to Nels Torgeson. The couple moved to farm near Mitchell, South Dakota, where they lived until 1915 and moved back to Iowa. Mr. Torgeson passed away in 1947. Mrs. Torgeson moved to Story City in 1948. She has been in poor health for about seven years, and passed away in her home on December 30 at the age of 69.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Amos and Myrtle, who died in infancy.

She is survived by her son, Jesse Torgeson of Radcliffe; two grandchildren, Linda and Craig; also three sisters, Maggie, Mrs. Henry Jensen of Thompson, Bertha, Mrs. Lloyd Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn., Sarah, Mrs. Andrew Vigness of Story City, Iowa; one brother, John B. Johnson of Minneapolis.

She also leaves a faithful companion, Miss Stella Larson, who has taken care of her most of the time for the past ten years.
