IRENE BERNADETTE HUHN

Irene Bernadette Huhn, 90, of Nevada, died of respiratory failure on Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada where she had been a resident since July of 1996.

She was born Aug. 9, 1910, in Colo, to Luke and Anna Nelson O'Donnell. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Des Moines and married Gaylon Huhn on Dec. 31, 1935, in Nevada. She retired in 1972 as the administrative assistant of the graduate college at Iowa State University. She was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Ames and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada and enjoyed playing bridge and being with her family. She was a longtime Story County resident.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Mayrose of West Lafayette, Ind; Ginger Kelsh of Spokane, Wash.; and Marti Hatchett of Aurora, Colo,; two sons, Dr. Ron Huhn of Nevada and Ben Huhn of Guthrie Center; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Buffington of Colo and Pauline Brisbin of Sedalia, Mo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Francis P. O'Donnell, and a sister, Alice Boller.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Jon Seda officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
