Funeral Service For Mrs. Flora Whitney

Funeral services for Flora Wood Whitney were held at the home in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. John F. Rex, pastor of the Cambridge Methodist church.

Interment was made in Cambridge cemetery.

Mrs. Leland Gardner and Mrs. Earl McHone accompanied by Mrs. John Dyer sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me."

The casket bearers were: Gordon Bullard, Harry Cairns, Earl Gardner, W. E. Hawks, C. S. Kent and L. O. Langland.

Flora Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wood, was born on August 20, 1859, at Keithburg, Ill., and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Hulsizer, at Oswego, Kansas, January 16, 1952, at the age of 92 years.

She grew to womanhood, and was married to C. C. Whitney on November 25, 1880, and to them were born five children, two of whom, Hazel and Bert, with the husband, had preceded her in death.

The family came to Cambridge to make their home in the year 1894, where Mr. Whitney was employee by the Milwaukee Railroad. Mrs. Whitney was a tireless worker in and about her home, and loved to work out of doors.

She proved herself to be a good neighbor and made a home for three of her grandchildren for several years.

Those who survive her are two daughters and one son: Mrs. George Hulsizer, Oswego, Kansas, Mrs. Euleda O'Mara, Minneapolis, Minn., and Charles E. Whitney, Detroit, Mich.

Also she leaves several grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. George Hulsizer, Ruth Hulsizer of Oswego, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hulsizer of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Euleda O'Mara and Jim O'Mara of Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Whitney of Detroit, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Halla, Mrs. Ray Schofield of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Traw of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Whitney, Jackie and Nedra, Mrs. Shirley Smith of Des Moines.
