Obituary

Charley L. Larson was born April 30, 1874 and died at his home in Huxley, March 30, 1954, at the age of 79 years and 11 months. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Larson, pioneer residents of the Palestine community near Cambridge, Iowa, where he received his early schooling and Christian education. He was confirmed by the late Rev. H. C. Holm of the Palestine Lutheran church on Nov. 11, 1888.

On Nov. 15, 1899 he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Anna Larson of Cambridge and to this union was born a daughter, Junetta. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1949 with open house in the Huxley home with 200 guests attending. Mr. Larson was for many years associated with the B. A. Lockwood Grain Co. at Slater and later went into the furniture and undertaking business and for several years was associated with the Duckworth Funeral Home at Ames as an able assistant to Mr. Duckworth.

The past five years he had been confined to his home by the infirmities of advancing years and was tenderly and lovingly cared for by his wife and daughter. Although an invalid he was not bedfast until two weeks prior to his death and remained alert to the end and eagerly but patiently awaited the call of his Lord and Master with Christian fortitude.

Mr. Larson was the last and youngest member of a family of seven. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Anna and daughter Junetta, many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He had a was handclasp and friendly greeting for all and will be greatly missed, especially in the home where he was a devoted and constant companion.
