THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, April 27, 1939, page 1. "MRS. JOHN SWARM - Lizzie Oxley Bell Swarm, daughter of Thomas and Mary C. Oxley, was born at Peoria city, Iowa, on January 25, 1866, and died at her home in Maxwell, Iowa, on April 24, 1939, age 73 years, 2 months and 29 days. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Swarm had spent her entire life in the Peoria and Maxwell communities. When a young girl she was converted and united with the Methodist Protestant Church at Peria.** In 1912 she transferred her membership to the Maxwell Methodist Church, where it has been ever since. On July 1, 1886, she was united in marriage to Schuyler Bell. To this union two sons and three daughters were born. Mr. Bell died in 1898. On October 14, 1903 she was united in marriage to John Swarm. To this union one daughter was born. All of her children are still living. She was a loving wife and mother, a kindly neighbor and held in high esteem by all who knew her. Two sisters preceded her in death. Surviving are: Her husband, John Swarm; four daughters, Mrs. J. E. (Grace) Westcott, Mrs. Fanny Lund, Mrs. B. F. (Lulu) Parr, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Jacobson, of Maxwell, and two sons, Burl Bell, of Colfax, and Floyd Bell, of Moline, Illinois; two brothers, John W. Oxley, of Cogswell, North Dakota, and James T. Oxley, of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Kulow, Ames, Iowa; Mrs. Alice Spurlin, of Marshalltown, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Many other relatives and a large circle of friends, also mourn her death. The funeral services were held from the Maxwell Methodist church at 2:00 p. m. on Wednesday, April 26, 1939, the Rev. Judson T. Perkins, pastor, in charge. Burial made in the Peoria Cemetery."
