Bernhard Holm Dies In Story City Hosp. On Sunday Morning

Bernhard Sherman Holm, 68, Story City, died at the Story City Memorial Hospital Sunday, Dec. 12 at 7:45 a.m. Before being transferred, he had ben a patient at the Veterans Hospital, Des Moines where he had been admitted for major surgery Oct 25.

The son of Ben T. an Olena (Jorgenson) Holm, he was born Feb. 22, 1897 at Roland. He was baptized in the Bergen Lutheran Church, April 18, 1897 by the late Pastor G. Smedal. At the age of three, he, his parents and two brothers moved to Story City where they made their home. He attended the public school there and was confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church, May 21, 1922 by the late Pastor O. P. Vangsness.

Prior to and following his service with the armed forces during World War I, he was associated in the Harness and Saddlery business. After the death of his father in August 1942, he became employed at ISU, Ames, for 12 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Joseph, Randolph and Martin Clarence.

Survivors are two sisters, Olive and Margaret of Story City.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at the St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City. The Rev. Rhuben Aga will officiate.

Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery with military rites by the Story City American Legion Post #59.

Friends may call at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home until noon on Tuesday.
