MRS. IDA THOMPSON

Ida Henderson Thompson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Henderson was born on October 2, 1887 on a farm near Randall, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. She was united in marriage to Bert Thompson in June, 1908. Seven children were born to this union. Bert and Ida lived on the farm until 1946 when they moved to Roland. Bert passed away on December 14, 1965 and in March 1968, Ida became a resident at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Ida was a faithful and active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. She was a hospitable and generous person.

The last year has been a hard time for Ida and she spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital. After her return to Bethany Manor in September she continued to fail in health and passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 1973, at the age of 86 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a seven year old daughter, Marjorie. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Lewis and Mrs. Cleve (Evelyn) Johnson both of Des Moines; Mrs. Jerry (Marjorie) Eisentraut of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mrs. Ray (Bettie) Ruebel of Ellensburg, Washington; Mrs. Lewis (Oral) Mack of Adel, Iowa and one son, James Thompson of Randall; also three brothers, Richard Henderson of Long Beach, California; Lincoln Henderson of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; Burton Henderson of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Celia Wierson of Story City; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Bethany Manor, Monday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. with Chaplain M. C. Hagedorn officiating, and at Salem Lutheran in Roland at 2 p.m. with Pastor Everett Nelson in charge. Harris Twedt, Jr. sang "How Great Thou Art" and "My God and I."

Interment was in the Roland Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bradley Thompson, Bruce Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Craig Mack, Roger Johnson and Roland Johnson.
