THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 7, 1901, page 4, column 4. "In Memoriam. The relatives and friends, in this city, of Mrs. Eva L. Shoop, were astounded earthly Thursday morning on hearing of her sudden death at her home in Perry, Iowa, at four a. m. of that day. She was in her usual health the evening before. She prepared and ate supper with her husband, who then left on his regular run as brakeman, and was summoned from Marion by a telegram announcing her death. The end come peacefully and easily; the result of heart disease. Eva L. Pratt was born in Princeville, Illinois, June 17, 1875, and removed to Iowa with her parents in 1888. She was united in marriage to Charles Shoop, at the home of her parents, in Maxwell, July 2, 1895. She united with the M. E. church in 1887, in which she continued a faithful member and christian worker until called to her eternal home, February 28, 1901, at the age of twenty five years, eight months and eleven days. She was also a member of the Highland Nobles lodge, of Perry, Iowa. Besides a young husband and his parents and sister, she leaves a father, mother, three brothers and two sisters to mourn the loss of a friend indeed, for though having a home of her own, she still frequently manifested her love for her childhood home by some work of love for them. The earthly tabernacle, vacated by the loving spirit who had returned to the Maker who gave it, was brought to Maxwell, Friday, and at two o'clock Saturday, the M. E. church, where the funeral services were held, was filled with relatives and friends from both Maxwell and Perry, whose presence at that busy day and hour attested the respect in which she was held. The floral offerings were many and beautiful."
