THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, October 28, 1971, page 1, column 2. "JOHN R. SARGENT - John Roland Sargent, 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, at Cherokee, where he had been for the past 3 months. He is survived by his daughter, Helen Packard of Orange, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Hawkins. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 27, at 1:30 p.m., in Coopers Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Ellsworth in charge. Mrs. Laura Pearson furnished the organ music. Casket bearers were John Osborn, Dale Pearson, Glen Huggins, Keith Meyers, Robert Kirk and Russell Sparks. Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery."
