MRS. DOROTHY KIRK

Mrs. Dorothy Kirk, 64, of 503 Carr Drive, Ames died at Iowa Methodist Hospital Tuesday evening about 6 o'clock.

She was born July 7, 1909 Near Nevada, the daughter of P. E. and Lulu Posegate. She attended Simpson College, taught school at Colo, and since she moved to Ames she had done some substitute teaching and also had been employed with the Iowa State Highway Commission for 14 years.

The deceased was a member of the Northminister Presbyterian Church. She and Stanley Kirk were married August 12, 1936 in Nevada.

She is survived by one son Gary, of Topeka, Kans.; one daughter Mrs. Carol Crandall of Eldridge, her father P. E. Posegate of Story City, four brothers Russell Posegate of LaGrange Park, Ill.; Bernard of Ames, Lowell Posegate of Roland and Robert Posegate of Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Thelma Christiansen of Cedar Rapids, three granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lulu Posegate, March 11, 1971.

Funeral services are to be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Frahm of her church officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

There has been a memorial established for the American Cancer Society, and gifts may be left at the Union Story Trust and Savings Bank.

The body will lie in state Thursday morning and Thursday evening at the funeral home.
