THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday July 31, 1941, page 1, column 2. "MARY DAVIS RUPP. - Mary Davis, daughter of David and Elizabeth Davis, was born at New Bridge, Wales, on June 6, 1875, and passed away at her home on July 23, 1941, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 17 days, following a long illness. At the age of 5 years she came to the United States with her parents and brother. At an early age she joined the Presbyterian Church in which she was active until her health failed. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge at Nevada, and a Past Noble Grand of Jeptha Rebekah Lodge, of Maxwell. She was united in marriage to W. C. Rupp on July 31, 1898. Those surviving, besides the husband, are two brother, Will Davis, of Los Angeles, California, and Roy Davis, of Maxwell, and sisters; Mrs. Nane Baker, of Nevada; Mrs. Ruth Whitney, of Cambridge, and Mrs. J. B. Scott, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Presbyterian Church with the Reverends Ralph W. Quakenbush and H. G. Darling in charge. Mrs. Laura Pearson and Mrs. Marie Scott sang "Hide Me," "Nearer Still Nearer" and "Does Jesus Care," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ina Larsen. The many floral offerings were most beautiful and were arranged and cared for by Mrs. Gladys Wood and Mrs. Lizzie Proctor. The pallbearers were Will Troup, W. C. Enfield, Will Hilton, Milt Boster, A. E. Harris and W. E. Van Hook. Royal Neighbor services were held at the church. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery. Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Russell Whitney, of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Cronk, of Knoxville; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rupp and two daughters and Charles Rupp, of Lanark, Ill.; Paul Holt, of Clear Lake, So. Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Rupp and Sally, of Des Moines." "Card of Thanks. - To the kind friends and neighbors who so willingly assisted during the sickness and death of my wife, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks, also to those sending flowers and assisting in the music. W. C. Rupp."
