Lewis Thompson, 68, Dies at Home In Roland on Monday

Lewis O. Thompson, 68, Roland, died Monday at 3 p.m. at his home in Roland, the victim of a heart attack. Thompson was born on a farm northeast of Story City April 20, 1898, the son of Lars L. and Carrie Thompson. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy Seabees.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3 at 2 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Everett Nelson in charge. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery where military rites will be held. Friends may call at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland.

Survivors are his wife, Myrtle; four daughter, Mildred (Mrs. Twedt Hanson) of Roland; Sylvia (Mrs. Tommy Ryan), Roland; Lois (Mrs. A. C. Boyd), Des Moines; Mary Lou, who is at home; five sons, Lyle and Wayne, both of Des Moines; Lewis, Jr. of Roland; Stanley, Harlington, Texas; Robert of Baltimore; twenty four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur of Roland, Levi, Williams; Martin, Elmore, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Hove of Elmore, Minn.
