DEATHS

Harley Ray Doolittle, son of William J. and Marie Doolittle was born December 4, 1906 on a farm two miles southeast of Story City and passed away at the Story City Memorial Hospital October 4.

He helped his father wit the farm work until he was 19 years old and then took up the carpentry trade with Albert Munson. On October 13, 1927, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Lake of Gilbert. They set up housekeeping on a farm three miles south of Story City where they lived for nineteen years. He became a member of the Grace E. U. B. Church in Story City in 1943. In 1945, they moved to a farm near Pequot Lakes, Minn. where they resided for a number of years.

He and a partner operated a sawmill and then he returned to his favorite work of carpentering.

When his father's health failed, they returned to Story City and were in the process of remodeling their farm home where they lived when first married. His health did not permit him to finish the task.

Survivors are his wife, Marjorie; a son, Donald; a daughter, Betty (Mrs. Bill McHone), both of Alhambra, Calif. and two granddaughters; his mother, Mrs. Mae Doolittle, two brothers, Wesley and Merlin, both of Story City and many other relatives and friends. His father, William J. Doolittle and a brother, Richard preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Grace E. U. B. Church, Story City with the Rev. Paul H. Beckman officiating. Burial was in the Sheffield Cemetery southeast of Story City.

Mrs. Darrell Doolittle, organist, played "Trees" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
