Halverson Funeral Rites Held On Thurs., July 8

Funeral services for Halvor O. Halverson were held at the Palestine Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 8 at 2 p.m. Pastor Arnold F. Hanson based his meditation on Psalm 116 - verses 7 and 8. Mrs. Noel Larson was organist. She accompanied Lewis Malmin who sang, "I won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone" and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were King Schaudt, Bill Schaudt, Kermit Johnson, David Halverson, Bruce Halverson and James Halverson. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery.

Halvor O. Halverson was born August 1, 1882 in Polk County south of Slater, the son of Ole and Grace Halverson and died July 5, 1965 at the Story County Hospital where he was a patient for two and one half weeks after suffering a stroke. He was 82 years, 11 months and 5 days old.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lincoln Church at Slater.

On June 5, 1913, he was married to Belle Eide. Surviving is one daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Gerhard Lande), and four sons, Herbert and Wayne of Huxley, Adrian of Ames and Marion of Indianola seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Belle, his parents, three sons, Gunder, Ole and Palmer, one brother, Ole, and two sisters, Mrs. Malinda Queensland and Mrs. George Annon.
