Injuries Fatal For White

Ross White, 76, mayor of Colo and a barber in his hometown since he was 18 years old, died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday.

White's death was the result of complications following an auto accident at Colo, Friday, May 13. He was first thought to be improving, but internal injuries developed Sunday and he had worsened since then.

White was born southwest of Colo June 2, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. White. He attended Dalton School, and began barbering in Colo at the age of 18. He was married to Miss Celia Hickman from Oklahoma, Dec. 16, 1908.

Active in community life, he had been mayor of Colo for many terms. He was also chairman of many local and county fund drives for Red Cross, Cancer, the Republican Party, and he served in the County Zoning Board. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, Celia; three daughters, Lorraine Hartwig of Oceanside, Calif.; Dorothy Richards of West Des Moines; Doris House of Manford, Calif.; a brother, Glenn White of Colo; four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Olson and Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, both of Colo; Mrs. Isabelle Bamford, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Mrs. Elizabeth Banks, Nevada; nine grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. One grandson died in Korea.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Colo with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating. Burial will be in the Colo Cemetery. The body is at the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing.
