THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 4, 1926, page 1. "AGED VETERAN DIES - John Pryor, 84, father of Arthur Pryor, of this place, died at him home in Nevada, Saturday evening, following an illness of several years. Mr. Pryor was a native of Belmont county, Ohio, where he was born July 4, 1841. His was a Civil war veteran and served throughout the war and had lived in and near Nevada for the past thirty years or more. Mr. Pryor is survived by his widow, one daughter and three sons, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Methodist church at Nevada, with Rev. Jackson Giddens in charge."
