Last Rites Tuesday For Lew Heintz, 74
Lew F. Heintz, 74, long time Story County resident, died at the Story County Hospital at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26. He had been a patient for the past two months.
He was born Dec. 31, 1891 in Chenoa, Illinois, the son of John A. and Mary Heintz. He was married to Nellie A. Gunn on Feb. 7, 1917 in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He was a retired farmer and had been a Story County resident for the past 57 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie; five sons F.W., Merrill M., and Dale all of Nevada, John of Kentland, Ind., Gene of Hamilton, Ill. and one daughter, Mrs. Mary R. Chernivsky of Downers Grove, Ill. There are 29 grandchildren and one great grandson. He also leaves two brothers, Harold and Fred both of Nevada; two sisters, Mrs. Roy O'Donnell of Colo and Mrs. Ann Rea of Brookfield, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Heintz helped organize the Story County Beef Producers and was a school board member of Fernald School many years. He also helped organize and was Secretary-Treasurer of the Shipping Association and a Farm Bureau member for many years.
Funeral services will be held from St. Patrick's Catholic Church Tuesday, March 1 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father J. J. Brickley officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at the Ryan Funeral Home Monday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m.
