Earl Thoreson*, 90, Dies in Story City Retirement Home

Earl J. Thoreson*, 90, a resident of Story City Bethany Manor, died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames at 6:15 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18 after being in ill health for one year.

He was a former Ames resident and a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.

Survivors include three sons and five daughters: Lee Thoreson, Mrs. W. J. McMahan and Mrs. William Hamilton of Des Moines; Wesley Thoreson of Ellsworth; Mrs. Edward B. Sorenson of Ames; Mrs. J. T. Jacobson of Mason City; Curtis L. Thoreson of Palmetto, Florida and Mrs. R. A. Powell of Winter Haven, Florida. Also 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Thea Bolt of Arcadia, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his wife Anna in 1948 and two sisters, Anna and Hattie.

Funeral services were held from the Adams Funeral Home in Ames at 2 p.m. today (Monday), Feb. 21 with Pastor O.M. Severseike of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Ames officiating. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
