Herbert Handy Dies At Nursing Home in Nevada on Thursday

Herbert Handy, 706 16th St., Nevada, died Thursday noon at the Oak Park Manor Nursing Home where he had been admitted Thursday from the University Hospital in Iowa City. He was 69 years old.

The son of James and Sally Handy, he was born in Coffey, Mo. December 21, 1896. He had been a resident of Nevada the past year and a half, moving here from a 16-year residence in Cedar Rapids.

He was married to Laura Mueller in California, Mo.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine.

Handy is survived by his wife Laura, one son Charles Brooks Handy of Ames; a grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Leta Handy Glaze of Coffey, Mo.

He was a retired salesman for the Mishawaka Rubber Company.

handy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one son, William Jean Handy, who died in 1953, and one grandson, Steve Handy, who died in 1965.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home Monday morning at 11 with the Rev. Frank Hladky officiating. Prayer services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids where he will be buried.
