Mrs. John Allen Dies Suddenly Here On Sunday

Mrs. John Allen, 54, Deputy Story County Treasurer and a county employee for 14 years, died at the Story County Hospital at 7:20 p.m. Sunday after being admitted at noon after having a stroke.

The daughter of George W. and Catherine Day, she was born November 9, 1911 in Colo. On August 5, 1933 she was married to John D. Allen at Marshalltown.

She was a member of the Nevada Wa Tan Ye Club, the Kilutsua Club, and was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, John D. Allen; a son, Carl Allen of Nevada; one grandchild, one brother, Willard Day of Des Moines, two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Morris and Mrs. Susie Young, both of Fayetteville, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at the Memorial Lutheran Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. E.P. Windman officiating.

Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Ryan Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when it will be taken to the church to await funeral services.

The court house will be closed from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
