John T. Heggen Of Story City Dies At His Home Sunday

John T. Heggen, Story City, died at his home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, Jan. 9, apparently of a heart attack. He was 96 years old.

Born Dec. 12, 1867, at Olen, Hunhordland, Norway, Heggen came to the United States in 1882. Until two months ago, he had been selling monument stones for the past 30 years. On Aug. 20, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Amalie Storesund.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City. Rev. Quentin Quambeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home at Story City until noon Wednesday.

Surviving are his wife, Amalie, Story City, one daughter, Mrs. Randolph (Marie) Tallem [should be Kallem] of Jewell and several nieces and nephews.
