Agnes McNichols Dies Sunday After Two Years Illness
Miss Agnes McNichols, 1128 Eighth St., former Nevada school nurse, died Sunday at 11:55 a. m. in the St. Thomas Mercy Hospital, Marshalltown, where she had been a patient since Jan. 6.
Funeral services for Miss McNichols will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. James R. Supple of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Ames, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Nevada Catholic cemetery.
A Rosary service will be in the Ryan Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 7:30 with the Rev. Pedro Hernandez of Mexico, who is attending Iowa State University and serving as supply pastor in Nevada during the absence in Hawaii, T. H. of the regular pastor, the Rev. J. J. Brickley.
Miss McNichols was born in Nevada November 8, 1880, a daughter of the late Patrick and Julia Hayes McNichols. She attended the Nevada schools and graduated from the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville, Ind. During her years as Nevada school nurse and later when serving in her profession, she touched many lives of many Nevadans.
On November 8, 1961 after two years of semi-invalidism, she had the misfortune to fall at her home break her hip. The injury necessitated two major surgical operations and months of hospitalization.
Miss McNichols is survived by two sisters, the Misses Nelle and Margaret McNichols, 1138 Eighth St., and by a number of nieces and nephews, the family of her sister, the late Minnie Hasslinger.
Two members of this family will be in attendance at her funeral Wednesday morning, Mrs. W. G. Schlimgen of Seattle, Wash., and Miss Helen Hasslinger of Seattle, Wash., who but recently returned home after several weeks in Nevada assisting in her aunt's care.
