DEATHS
LEWIS H. MONSON
Funeral services for Lewis H. Monson were held Wednesday May 2 at 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiated. Mrs. Harold Olson, organist accompanied Mrs. Tim Yantis, who sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Near to the Heart of God."
Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Curnie Larson, Arnold Johnson, Stanley Olson, LeRoy Mick, Franklin Paulsona and Fred Hemnes.
Lewis H. Monson was born near Stanhope, Iowa on September 20, 1890 to Hans and Bertha Monson. He passed away April 29 at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and nine days.
He was the youngest of five children and was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. On July 15, 1916, he was united in marriage to Mary Shaw, at Clarion. To this union three children were born two daughters and one son.
Mr. Monson, a carpenter by trade, lived the major part of his life in the Story City area. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sisters.
He is survived by a son and two daughters: Herbert Monson of Ames, Mrs. Jesse (Marion) Solyst of Story City, and Genevieve Monson of Belmond; three granddaughters: Mrs. Gloria Sampson, Mrs. Barbara Westberg, and Gayle Solyst, all of Story City; and one sister, Mrs. Sena Chenowith of Prairie City, Iowa.
