Obituary

Harvey Tesdall

Funeral services for Harvey O. Tesdall were held on Tuesday, March 8, 1:30 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. Pastor Merlin Norris officiated using the text II Timothy 4:7-8.

The pallbearers were Sheldon Lee, Howard Hutchins, Orval Hellekson, Robert Johnson, Edmund Hellison and Charles Tesdall. Interment was in Fjeldberg cemetery at Huxley.

Harvey Orval Tesdall was born on Oct. 16, 1899 near Huxley in Story County, Ia. to parents Charles and Betsy (Fatland) Tesdall.

Harvey's parents died when he was a young child and he was raised in the home of Ole and Isabelle Heggen at Huxley until their death. When he was a young adult he made his home with Andrew and Sarah Wenos and Ella and Rose Heggen. He was confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church where he was a member until his death.

On Feb. 25, 1934 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Oppedahl at Lake Church, Goldfield, Iowa. They farmed until retirement in 1972 and moved to Huxley.

Two sons, David Arlen and Donald John, were born to this union. Harvey passed away at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines on Sunday, March 6, 1977, following a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, David of Huxley and Dr. Donald Tesdall of Des Moines, two daughter-in-laws, Verda of Huxley and Mary Jane of Des Moines; six grandchildren; one brother, Milton of Huxley, two sisters, Mrs. Oliva Lee of Huxley and Mrs. Blanche Foy of Medford, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Oliva in infancy and one brother, Charles of Omaha, Nebr.
