Doris Amelia Dahl, eldest daughter of Mrs. Alma Merkel of Duluth, Minn. and George Merkel (deceased) was born July 12, 1920 at Story City, Iowa and departed this life March 6th, 1973 at the age of forty-two years, seven mos. and six days.

Most of her childhood was spent at McCallsburg, Iowa, where she was graduated from High School in 1948. In November of that year she was married to Oral Collison at Bemidji, Minn. She was widowed three years later.

August 23, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Dahl of Isabel, So. Dakota. To this union were born two girls, Jacki and Francene and three boys, Charles, Justin and Mickey. All are of school age and living at home.

She was saved in her youth and joined the Church of God of Prophecy at Bemidji in 1945. She loved the church doctrine and sought to follow its teaching.

To loved ones and friends she leaves a treasured memory. Her kind and humble way was part of the spirit that brought light to her eyes and a smile on her face, as she brought words of hope and good cheer to those around her.

She is survived by her husband, the five children, one brother, Charles Merkel of Plainview, Nebraska; five sisters-- Mrs Jim (Vergie) Ewing and Mrs. Georgia Gehring both of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Wilmer (Gladys) Peter of Story City, Iowa, Mrs. Charles (Pauline) McGinty of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Melvin (Jean) McDonald of Phoenix, Arizona, her mother, Mrs. Alma Merkel, four aunts and twenty-two nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Royalance.

Burial services were held at Sundeth-Anderson Funeral Home in Minneapolis with Revs. William Wendt and Samuel Pratt of the Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minn.
