DEATHS

Randolph E. Kallem

Funeral services for Randolph E. Kallem were held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell on Monday afternoon, Feb. 19 at 2 o'clock with Pastor Norbert Jolivette in charge. Mrs. Harry Harman was organist and burial was in the Homewood Cemetery at Ellsworth.

Randolph Eliot Kallem was born in Pontiac, Illinois on September 14, 1995 to parent Tarald Kallem and Mary Evenson.

He was educated in Pontiac, Illinois and Ellsworth, Iowa. He was a lifetime farmer, retiring in 1955. He had served on the Ellsworth school board and was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

On December 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marie Heggen of Story City in the Bethel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Kallem passed away at East Lane Manor, Jewell on Friday, Feb. 16 after an illness of a number of years. He was 87 years, five months and two days.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Hare and Mavis Kallem, both of Waterloo, Curtis Kallem and Sidney Kallem, both of Des Moines, five grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Ida Sanford of Rancho Cardova, California.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Severson in March 1938, his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Carlson and Mrs. Clara Eittreim, and four brothers, Edwin, Alvin, Theodore and Clarence Kallem.
