EDWIN O. EGENES

Funeral services for Edwin O. Egenes, 71, Story City, were held at St. Petri Lutheran Church of Story City Saturday, July 22, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Rolfe S. Johnstad and Perry U. Sampson officiated. Pastor Johnstad was soloist, accompanied by Eva Jacobson, organist. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Casket bearers were arris Hill, Charles Hill, Clifton Miller, Edwin Hauge, Vernon Munson and Milford L. Johnson.

Edwin O. Egenes, son of Ole and Anna Egenes, was born in Story City October 17, 1906. He was a veteran of World War II, and had been in ill health since January 18, 1945, when he was injured in the Battle of Luzon.

Mr. Egenes passed away at his home here, following a stroke on Wednesday, July 19.

He is survived by three brothers and one sister: Bernt Egenes of Red Lodge, Montana; Herbert Egenes and Johnny Egenes, both of Story City; and Mrs. Ingo Gilder of Des Moines. Also surviving are six nieces and three nephews. His parents and one brother, Arnt Egenes, have preceded him in death.
