Obituaries

Rufus E. Thompson

Rufus E. Thompson, son of the late Oscar and Bertha Thompson, was born June 22, 1902 near Roland. He passed away Friday, October 17, following a car accident at Seattle, Washington.

He was baptized and confirmed in the East Bergen Lutheran Church, McCallsburg, by Pastor G. Smedal. He spent his earlier years in the Roland-McCallsburg area. IN 1941 he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he was employed by the Boeing Aircraft until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Seattle, Washington, and funeral services were held Wednesday, October 22, in the Chapel at 9:30 a.m., under the auspices of the church.

A second funeral service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City on Thursday afternoon, October 23 at 2 p.m., with Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiating at that service.

Miss Louise Olson was organist. Mrs. Loren Twedt sang "There is Room at the Cross for You" and "How Great Thou Art."

Burial was in the Mamreland Cemetery at Randall with six nephews as pallbearers: Lloyd Thompson, Marvin Thompson, Richard Ness, Robert Ness, James Thompson and Harold Childers. Mr. Thompson is survived by one brother, Amos Thompson of Story City; eleven nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bertha Thompson, one brother and one sister.
