Obituaries

Lenn Foster

Lenn Gilbert Foster, son of Sarah Mae Burroughs and Samuel Milton Foster was born November 1, 1890 near Stuttgart, Ark., one of a family of six children. He grew to manhood in Clarence and Hagers Grove, Missouri, moved to Iowa in later years, residing in Story and Boone Counties. He has lived in Kelley the last 19 years.

Lenn G. Foster was baptized at the Ebenezer church in Hagers Grove while a small child. He died Tuesday, October 21st.

He was married the Addie Pearl Slonaker at Milton in 1913 and to this union were born six children. March 1, 1928 Lenn was married to Retha Mae Kittle. He was a devoted husband and father and a man held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Besides his wife Retha, he is survived by five children, Mrs. Virginia Mae Allemond and husband from Brisbane, California, Barney William Foster and wife from Clarence, Missouri, Edwin LaVern Foster and wife from Daly City, California, Eugene Gilbert Foster and wife from Pacifica, California, Mrs. Neva Arlene Mosher and husband from San Rafael, California and Mrs. Richard Russell Foster, daughter-in-law from Minneapolis, Minn.

Also surviving is one sister, Stella Mae Price who is in a nursing home in Burlington, Iowa, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, a host of very close neighbors and many, many friends.

Preceding him in death were one son Richard Russell and three brothers, Clifford Milton, Elmer Harvey, and Clarence Shelby Foster.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 24 at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater at 2 p.m. Rev. Olaf Holen from Ames conducted the services. Burial was in the Slater Cemetery.
