DEATHS

Arthur M. Lewis

Funeral services for Arthur M. Lewis were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with the Rev. John Ness the officiating minister. He chose Psalm 29:11 as his sermon text.

Robert Weeks brought words of comfort in song with the selections "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." The organist Mrs. Alvin Lund accompanied him at the organ.

Pallbearers were Wilbur Thornwall, Arnold Alleman, Oliver Newman, H. J. Carlson, Rudy Zagar and Marvin Ross.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Slater.

Arthur M. Lewis was born April 26, 1887 near Cambridge the son of Erasmus and Anna Lewis. He was baptized and confirmed in Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge.

In 1914 he was united in marriage to Bertha Sampson. Most of his life he lived in the Huxley Slater community.

For the past 14 years he was a faithful custodian of Bethlehem Church as long as his health permitted. In failing health this fall he died Thursday night at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines after he had bee admitted earlier in the evening.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha, two sons Homer of Slater and Everett of Ankeny, one daughter Mrs. Robert Buehler of Alleman, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Margaret Wentworth and several nieces and nephews all in Minnesota.

Coming from a distance to attend the funeral services were a nephew Jake Strom and a niece Mrs. Al Joubert both of Minneapolis and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sampson of Iowa Falls.
