THE DES MOINES REGISTER, October 15, 1996, page 5. Obituary: "Maurine A. Norton, 92, of Maxwell died Sunday at Dabb Guest Home in Leon of complications of pneumonia. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Farrar United Methodist Church, and burial of the remains will be in Farrar Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Norton lived in the Maxwell and Elkhart areas all her life and retired as a teacher in the Bondurant-Farrar schools. She was a member of the Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Surviving are her husband, Clarence of Leon; a son, David of Maxwell; a brother, Robert Byers of Mankato, Minn.; two sisters, Bayne Hall of Tucson, Ariz., and Barbara Custer of Lindale, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements."
