Story City man dies on Sunday

Hans P. Hendickson [should be Hendricksen], 78, of Story City died Sunday evening at the Cherokee Hospital where he had been a patient since Friday.

He was born April 19, 1893 in Morkov, Denmark to Jorgen and Mary Hendricksen. He came to the United States in 1911 and lived in Illinois and South Dakota before coming to Iowa.

On May 29, 1919 Mr. Hendrickson [should be Henrdricksen] married Amanda Mathiason [should be Matheason] of Story City and the couple farmed near Story City until they retired and moved into town in February, 1958.

The deceased is a veteran of World War I.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City with burial in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda, one brother, Peder, and a sister, Emma Nyland, both of Denmark, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother in Denmark and one brother, Fred, Story City, who died in 1963.
