FORREST McCOLLOM
COLO--Funeral services for Forrest McCollom, who died Dec. 30, 1958 in the Story County Hospital, were held in the Colo Methodist church on Friday, Jan. 2, with the Rev. Paul Hasel officiating.
Mrs. N. H. Brinkman was the organist and accompanied Joe Harper who sang "Rock of Ages."
The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Harold Kimberley and Mrs. Lee Fish. Memorials were also received from relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Ervin Eggers, Leo Cooper, Harold Kimberley, Raymond Wilson, Ed Smith and Lee Fish. Burial was in the Colo cemetery.
Life Sketch
Forrest McCollom was born in Colo, Iowa on Nov. 7, 1888 and died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada on Dec. 30, 1958 at the age of 70 years. He lived most of this life on a farm where he was born, the son of Frank and Ida Kent McCollom.
On Jan. 10, 1914, he was married to Eunice Webb and to this union four children were born.
He had been in failing health for several weeks but until time had been active and enjoyed helping on the farm. In 1948 they moved to a residence in Colo and had been semi-retired.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Peoples, Perry, Mrs. Ruth Elwood, Ellsworth, Mrs. Grace Miller, Nevada, a son, John, Colo; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Binder, Colo, and a brother, Wallace, also of Colo.
