"DELIA LAPPIER - Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. - "Hand in hand, Delia and Dale walk together in God's beautiful garden, peaceful and free from pain. Their lives have been full. They have left us with many happy memories. They do not wish for us to stand at their graves and weep. They are not there, they do not sleep. They are together where they want to be." Delia Lappier, 71, of Yakima, went to join her beloved husband, Dale, on Tuesday, June 10, 1997. Delia was born March 21, 1926, at Sioux City, Iowa, to Paul and Petra Vasquez. She and her family lived at several locations, before moving to the Yakima Valley. After working in the fields for many years, Delia worked at Lappier's Grocery Store in Brownstown, where she met her future husband. She married Dale Lappier on March 12, 1956 in Yakima, and the couple made their home in the Wapato area. Delia provided loving day care for many children. She was known to everyone in Wapato as "Mom Pier." In 1977, Dale retired and began helping with "Mom Pier's Kids." Together they owned and operated "Mom Pier and Daddy Dale's" Day Care. In 1992 they retired from the day care and moved to be closer to their grandchildren. Delia was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato and later of Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Mike Doty of Yakima and Joann and Mark Toms of Selah; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Doty of Yakima and Dustin Toms of Selah; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Annie Vasquez of Moses Lake and Gilbert and Stella Vasquez of Othello; and one sister, Eloise Herrera of Torrington, Wyoming. Delia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale Lappier on May 26 of this year; her parents, Paul and Petra Vasquez; and one sister, Maggie Espinoza. Viewing will be from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, June 13, 1997, at West Hills Memorial Park. Those attending should meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Seattle Childrens Hospital in care of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home."
