THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, November, 4, 1926, page 1, column 5. "CHARLES CLARK JOHN. - Charles Clark John was born near Nevada, Iowa, December 27, 1865, and died at Siloam Springs, Ark. October 21, 1926, aged sixty years, nine months and twenty-four days. He was second in a family of nine children and was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Mr. John was united in marriage to Florence May Confare, December 26, 1893, at Maxwell, Iowa. To this union four children were born, all of whom, with the mother, survive him: Valora Allen, of Boynton, Okla.; Belle Rogers, of Webb City, Okla.; Howard and Dorothy at home. He is also survived by three brothers, Edgar and Willard, Tulsa, Okla.; Fred of Muskogee, Okla. And four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Bartlett, of Tonkawa, Okla.; Mrs. Ida Webb, of Cambridge, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Bowen, of Maxwell, Iowa, and Mrs. Esther Heggen, of Des Moines. Mr. John's life was spent in and near Maxwell until 1909 when, with his family, he moved to Council Hill, Okla., where he lived until 1914. He then moved to Prairie Grove, Ark. where he resided until 1919, when they moved to their present home near Gentry, Ark. Mr. John embraced Christianity in early manhood, uniting with the Presbyterian church at Maxwell, later transferring his membership to the M. E. church at Gentry, Ark. He was a man who made lasting friendships wherever he lived and besides his immediate family, has many relatives and friends who deeply mourn his passing. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Villine, Sunday, October 24, at the M. E. church in Gentry, and interment was at Siloam Springs cemetery."
