STORY CITY--Funeral services were held for Mrs. Martin Holland Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 p. m. from the St. Petri Lutheran church with the Rev. Perry Heller of McCallsburg officiating. Burial was n the Story City cemetery.
Life Sketch
Emma Josie Holland was born to Ole and Malinda, in Story county on May 28, 1890. She died suddenly Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, 1958 about 10:15 from a heart attack.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen church at Roland, was a former member of the Bethany Lutheran church of McCallsburg and was a present member of the St. Petri Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid in Story City.
She was married in 1912, to which union two children were born, Curtis Henderson of Zearing and Melbourne, who died in infancy.
On March 11, 1924, she was united in marriage to Martin Holland. They lived on a farm east of McCallsburg until 1944, when they moved to their present home in Story City.
Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her father, a brother Arthur, and a sister, Bertha.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Mollie Holland, her husband, Martin, a son, Curtis; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Sevde aof Ames, Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Elwick and Mrs. Kermit (Vernice) Hougen, both of Radcliffe. Two brothers, Otis Holland of Minneapolis and Orvie Holland of Ames, and five grandchildren, Carrol, Linda, Jeannie, Julie Ann and Donald Henderson of Zearing.
