STEPHEN A. CARR

COLLINS -- Funeral services for Stephen A. Carr were held in the Collins Christian church Monday afternoon at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Ellis Martin officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Kenneth Tomlinson as soloist, who sang "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me", and Mr. Fred Mead, who accompanied her on the piano and furnished the instrumental music. Casket bearers were Verne Hackler, Wayne Evans, Merle Broen, Howard Pitcher, Harold Hale and Joe Tiffany.

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Harold Hale and Mrs. Oscar Serbein. Interment was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery. Services were in charge of the Brouhard Funeral Home of Zearing.

Obituary

Stephen Angelo Carr, son and eldest child of William Wyatt and Ellen Angelo-Carr was born on a farm five miles southwest of Collins in northwest Jasper county on Sept. 29, 1878 and died in the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines Jan. 3, 1958, at the age of 79 years, three months and four days. At an early age his parents moved to one mile east of Collins and it was in this community that he lived the remainder of his life.

He was widely known as a cattle dealer. He was ill for the past two years, being hospitalized several times.

In April 1907 he was married to Mrs. Maude Styles who preceded him in death in May, 1948. There is a step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Mulcahy of Des Moines who with her family survives.

On Jan. 16, 1952, he was remarried to Mrs. Zuba Taylor who also survives.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Amos who died in 1941. Other survivors are two brothers, John of Macon, Mo. and Charles of Collins, a sister, Mrs. Olga Holm of Los Angeles, Calif. and number of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended the funeral services from Des Moines, Cumming, Indianola, Newton, Kellogg, Elkhart, Marshalltown, Nevada and Maxwell.
