Henry A. Dobbe

Funeral services for Henry A. Dobbe were held on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Palestine Lutheran Church. The meditations were given by Pastor LeRoy Dobbe and Pastor Ernest Thompson.

Mrs. Norman Lyon was the organist.

Soloists were Mrs. Arlin Sheldahl and Omar Brendeland. They sang "How Great Thou Art," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." The service closed with the congregation singing "Rock of Ages."

Pallbearers were Sheldon Lee, Ron Chelsvig, Leonard Lee, Robert Christianson, Beverly Hill, Ron Dobbe.

Interment was in Palestine cemetery in Huxley.

Henry A. Dobbe was born August 13, 1898 in Story County, Ia. to parents John and Isabell Dobbe. He was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine Lutheran Church and attended the Huxley School.

In February 1927, he was married to Beatrice Chelsvig. They lived in Ames where he worked as a meat cutter. They moved to Huxley where he operated a grocery store for several years.

The last few years he made his home with his son, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dobbe in Greeley, Colo., where he passed away on Dec. 5, 1975 after a long illness.

He is survived by two sons, Herbert of Greeley, Colorado, Orville of Des Moines, two brother, Milton and Elmer of Huxley.

He was preceded in death by his wife 1962, also his parents, a brother, Joe and a sister Jeanette.
