Jacob Hoversten Funeral Services Held in Calif.

Funeral services for a former Story City resident, Jacob T. Hoversten was held at Salem Lutheran Church, Glendale, Calif. on Wednesday afternoon, February 7th with the Rev. Paul Mork officiating. Pastor Mork also sang "Den Store Hvide Flok." The organist was Miss Vilo Buseth.

The audience sang "Be Still My Soul" the melody from music of "Finlandia" by Sibelius, was a favorite of Mr. Hoversten.

Pall bearers were Edwin Lamen, Laurence Refer, Berney Byberg, William Edwards, Arthur Anderson and John Danielson. Interment was at Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Life Sketch

Jacob T. Hoversten was born August 13, 1883 on a farm in Hamilton County, Iowa, the son of Thor and Gertrude Hovesten. He died at the age of 78 years on Sunday morning, February 4 at his home in Glendale, Calif.

He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, northwest of Story City of which he was a member for 50 years.

On July 2, 1909 he was united in marriage to Ellen Sansgaard at the Clear Lake and Ellsworth Church. They resided on their farm west of Story City until 1932 when they moved to Story City and in 1940 moved to California where he was employed at Lockheed Aircraft at Burbank for 19 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen and four sons, Dr. Lester Hoversten of Covina, Calif., Lester Hoversten of Fullerton, Calif., J. Ernest Hoversten of Lafayette, Calif. and Captain Herman E. Hoversten, U.S.A.F., presently serving in England; six grand children; two brothers, Theodore of Jewell and George of Waseca, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Ole (Anna) Pederson of Thompson and Mrs. Arthur (Gertie) Buckwalt of Stanhope.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Henry, Ben and Albert.
