Last Rites Held For Fern Guthrie

McCALLBURG Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Wesleyan Methodist Church for Fern M. Guthrie, 67, who died in Clinton Tuesday afternoon.

Casketbearers were her sons, Gerald, Paul, Aulden, Reynold, Walter and son-in-law Ralph Brighton.

Mrs. Harry Howe was organist Mrs. Spencer Moon and Miss Esther Laun were vocalists.

Burial was in the Long Grove Cemetery at Maynard with the Grossman Funeral Home in charge.

She had made friends in Story County while she and her husband were visiting relatives and friends here.

Obituary

She was born Feb. 22, 1883 at Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Riley and Talitha Farr Knight. She attended school in Fayette County and on July 6, 1910, married George Davis in Maynard, Ia. He preceded her in death.

On Jan. 11, 1950, she married Henry Guthrie in Waterloo.

Surviving are her husband, seven children, Mrs. Ralph Bright, Eldora, Gerald H. Davis, Randalia, the Rev. Paul R. Davis, Rochester, Minn., Aulden D. Davis, Union Grove, Wis., Reynold D. Davis, Waucoma, Walter C. Davis, Radcliffe,; and Pearl Marie Wienke, Pallatine, Ill.

One brother, Arthur Knight, Maynard, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Storhschein, Sumner, and Mrs. Donald Dye, Olds, Alberta, Canada, along with 28 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, also survive.
