Marie Louise Chandler
ZEARING Funeral services for Marie (Sievers) Chandler, 74, were conducted at 2:00 p. m. on Friday, July 5, 1957 from the Bethel Evangelical United Brethren church in Zearing. The Rev. Donal D. Eller officiate at the services. Mrs. Walter Lund played the organ an accompanied Mrs. Paul Johns who sang two of the deceased best loved hymns, "When They Rang Those Golden Bells" and "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love."
The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Earl Menzel, Mrs. Ray Hawk and Mrs. Art Cook. Casket bearers were Earl Gaunt, Ray Hawk, Art Cook, Earl Menzel, Elmer Fitzgerald and Clair Obenchain. The funeral was in charge of the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing.
Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery, Collins.
Life Sketch
Marie Louise (Sievers) Chandler, daughter of Henry and Kristina (Puls) Sievers was born at Racine, Wis. on October 24, 1882, and passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Zearing on July 1, 1957 at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 7 days.
At the age of four Mrs. Chandler moved with her parents to Omaha, Neb. where she attended public schools and became a member of the Calvary Baptist church.
On Sept. 25, 1907, she was unite in marriage to Art P. Chandler. This September would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary. To this union were born two children, Hal P. Chandler of Omaha, Neb. and Mrs. Herbert (Ruth) Hess of San Jose, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Chandler lived in Omaha until 1913 at which time they moved to Corley, Iowa where they took up farming. Three years later they moved to Zearing. Here Mrs. Chandler has lived the rest of her life with the exception of four years which were spent in Portland, Ore. during World War II.
On Feb. 6, 1921, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler transferred their membership to the Evangelical United Brethren church in Zearing, where they have been faithful members in this church for more than 36 years.
Survivors include her husband, Art, her son Hal and daughter, Ruth, seven grandchildren an three great grandchildren.
