Obituary

Andrew, son of Ole and Mattie Olson, was born Sept. 16, 1869, in Mosteroen, near Stavanger, Norway, and passed away at his home Thursday, March 7, 1957 after a lingering illness at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 21 days.

Mr. Olson came to the United States with his parents in 1882 and settled first near Seneca, Ill. In December, 1894, he came to Story county with his parents and settled on a farm near McCallsburg, moving to his present home in 1904.

He was married to Nettie Ellingson March 8, 1903 at the home of her parents in Norway, Iowa, by Rev. J. N. Sandvin. If he had lived a few more hours it would have been their 54th wedding anniversary.

To this union two children were born, a daughter, Arlot, and a son, Reuben. Mr. Olson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a charter member of the Bethany Lutheran church in McCallsburg. He was a faithful and willing worker of his church, serving as elder of 3X years. He also served his community as director of local school board for some time. He was a good friend and neighbor.

Leaving to mourn his passing are the wife, Nettie, daughter Arlot (Mrs. Emile Cote) of Oxnard, Calif., and son Reuben at home, and grandson Andrew Cote; one brother, Morgan Olson of McCallsburg and sister Mrs. Marie Sundean of Boone, also many other relatives and friends.
