Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Gertie Larson

McCALLSURG: The last rites for Mrs. Gertie Larson of Marshalltown were held Sunday, March 17 at 3 o'clock at the Presbyterian church in McCallsburg with the Rev. R. M. Shipman of Ames the minister.

Casket bearers were John Hauptly, Obed Erickson, Rasmus Thompson, Ervin Morris, Glenn Boston, and William Tett.

In charge of the many beautiful flowers were Mrs. Andy Thompson and Mrs. Henry Mehlow.

Mrs. Herbert Eddy, organist, accompanied Mrs. F. E. Nail and Miss Catherine Craig who sang two numbers "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Burial was in the McCallsburg cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Gertie Larson, daughter of Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Baumgardner was born Feb. 5, 1874 at Agency and while a child came with her parents to Story county and the McCallsburg community.

On March 2, 1872 she was married to Thomas Larson of McCallsburg. They lived on a farm for a number of years, the moved into McCallsburg to make their home. Three children were born to them, two sons, Earl and Lloyd and daughter, Gladys.

Mr. Larson died in 1935 and in 1941 Mrs. Larson went to Marshalltown to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Rice.

After a lingering illness she passed away Friday, March 15 at the age of 83 years at the Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown where she had been cared for the last two weeks.

She is survived by the sons Earl of Farmington, Minn., and Lloyd of St. Paul, and the daughter Gladys (Mrs. W. E. Rice) of Marshalltown; two brothers, Bert Baumgardner and Roy Baumgardner of McCallsburg; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends, many of whom were present at the services Sunday.

Mrs. Larson was an attendant at the Presbyterian church while living in McCallsburg and of the Methodist church after going to Marshalltown.

In attendance were relatives from Illinois, Minnesota and many Iowa towns.
