Services Tuesday For Mrs. Walter Pitcher

COLLINS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Pitcher were held in the Collins Methodist church last Tuesday at two p. m. Rev. Clyde McDonald was in charge of the services assisted by Rev. Herbert Scott, both of the Latter Day Saints church in Des Moines.

Music was furnished by Wilbur Chandler and Mrs. Norma Vanzee with Mrs. Marion Peas at the piano.

Casket bearers were her nephews: Dale Huffaker and Glenn Pyle of Baxter, Jack Buchanan and Merrit Pitcher of Grundy Center, Milo Pitcher of Marshalltown and Howard Pitcher of Collins.

Burial was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary

Rittie Huffaker was born March 3, 1879 at Princeton, Ill. She came with her parents to Marshall county where she spent several years.

On March 4, 1895 she was married to Walter Pitcher. To this union were born two children, Merle, who passed away in infancy an Elbert.

They lived several years near Zearing, Collins and Rhodes an then back to Zearing. They moved into Zearing where they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1945. In 1946 they moved to Des Moines where she passed away Nov. 22, 1952. Her health failed about three years ago.

Her survivors are her husband Walter Pitcher of Des Moines, a son Elbert of Milwaukee, Wisc., two grandchildren and one brother, C. F. Huffaker of Rhodes.
