Mrs. Mae Bowers Dies This Morning At Her Home

AMES--Mae Bowers, 58, 715 Fifth street, Ames, died this morning at 5:45 a.m. at her home, following three year illness with cancer.

Born Sept. 9, 1899 at Colo, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Sawtll. She was a graduate of the Nevada high school and of Highland Park University, Des Moines. She was a member of the Ames E.U.B. church, the Ames W.R.C., the Ames Woman's Club and the Nevada Rebekah Lodge.

She was married June 11, 1947 to Henry Bowers, who survives as does one son, Jack Bloomberg, of Webster City, and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Bishop of Ames and Mrs. Mary Helland of Grand Meadow, Minn.

She also leaves her father, C. H. Sawtell of Ames, two sisters, Mrs. Fern Shickell of Des Moines and Mrs. Ruby Wilkins of Tulsa, Okla. and 10 grandchildren. Her mother and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday in the Ames E.U.B. church with Rev. A. E. Wilkins officiating.

Burial will be in the Colo cemetery.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mae Esther Sawtell married (1) George Joseph Albert Bloomber on 23 July 1919 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. She married (2) Henry A. Bowers 11 January 1947.
