THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, October 9, 1941, page _, column 3. “LORING – This community was saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. John Garlock, of Cambridge, and her sister Mrs. Emma Hill, who was visiting there, in an automobile accident, near Atlantic, Friday.”
THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, October 9, 1941, page 1, column 5. "DELILAH GARLOCK. - Delilah Kirkman was born in Story County, Iowa, to George and Delilah Kirkman, Nov. 10, 1866. Her early life was spent in Peoria community. She was married Dec. 25, 1882 to Johnathan Garlock, and lived on the home place southwest of Maxwell, until four years ago, when she moved to Cambridge, where she spent the remainder of her life, until her death, Oct. 4, 1941. Surviving are: three daughters, Lola Garlock and Mrs. C. G. King, of Cambridge, and Mrs. Ray Ashba, of Maxwell, three grandchildren, Mrs. Ralph Hunter, of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Dean Henning, of Baltimore, Md., and Maxine Ashba, of Maxwell; tow great-grandchildren, Stephen and Ralph Hunter, Jr., of San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Garlock was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Church, at Loring for many years. A great number of friends and neighbors will long remember her with great appreciation. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion church at Loring by Rev. J. I. La Favre, of Marshalltown, Ia., with Rev. H. D. Robinson, of Los Angeles, Calif., assisting. Interment was at Mt. Zion."
