From Nevada Representative February 22, 1905 (page 2)
Mrs. Catherine Phillips, mother of George Phillips, former superintendent of Story county schools, died at her residence in Zearing, February 11, after an illness of a year and a half, which had made her helpless. Her age was nearly seventy-five. She was a native of Ohio, came with her husband, William Phillips to Polk county, Iowa in 1862, and thence to Illinois Grove in 1872, and in 1875 settled on the farm northwest of Zearing on which Mr. Phillips died soon after, and which continued her home till she was removed to Zearing a year ago. She is survived by her sons George and Lewis and her daughter, Mrs. William Wickham, whose united care has comforted her age and helplessness. He admirable qualities made friends of those who knew her, and affection follows her, while her remains rest in the cemetery at Illinois Grove.
