Funeral Services Held at Slater For Mrs. Belle Jondall

Slater, June 6--Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Jondall were held Wednesday afternoon at the A. A. Chader home at 1:30 and at the Bethlehem church at 2:00 with Rev. E. R. Rorem in charge, assisted by the Rev. David Munson of the Methodist church.

A vocal duet, "Jesus Cares," by Rev. and Mrs. Munson opened the services at the church. This was followed by scripture reading and prayer by Rev. Munson. Rev. M. S. Heggen then sang "The Lord, My Shepherd." "Members of God's Household" was the sermon topic used by Rev. Rorem. At the close of the service, Rev. Munson sang "No Night there."

Pallbearers were T. M. Rawson, Chas. Skortman, Andrew Maland, Art Mays, M. S. Heggen, and Nels Sabo. Burial was made in the Slater cemetery.

Among the out-of-town relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chader and daughter, Rochelle and Mortis and Marie Scalf of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. V. K. Chader and Blanche of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Chader of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Chader of Madrid; and Mrs. Fred Croft and Wwight of Sheldahl.

Belle Arntz Jondall, daughter of Malinda and Simon Arntz, was born in Prairie du Chien, Wis., January 30, 1855 and died June 1, 1942, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Amiel A. Chader of Slater, Iowa, at the age of 87 years and four months. Her parents moved with her to Iowa in 1857 and she resided in Slater and community all her life. She was one of the few remaining original residents of the town of Slater.

In 1874 she was united in marriage to Henry Jondall of Story City. To this union were born three children Erbelle, Eddie and Mary, all of whom preceded her in death, as well as her husband who died in 1926. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Amiel A. Chader of Slater, one granddaughter, Mrs. Blanche Heavenstone of Oakland, California, and one great granddaughter, also of Oakland, California, as well as several nieces and nephews who cherish her memory.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at an early age and remained a loyal Christian member all the days of her life. For the past 15 years she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Chader of Slater. "Aunt Belle," as she was known to her loved ones as well as to the whole community, will be remembered by all who knew he as a kind and loving friend and a faithful Christian.
